Spy Wednesday
It is called Spy Wednesday because this is the day Judas Iscariot agreed to betray Jesus Christ and become a spy for the high priests.
Thirty pieces of silver was the price for which Jesus was betrayed. It was how much Judas received. Thirty pieces of silver is the amount to be paid for a slave. According to the Torah, if an ox killed a slave by accident, the owner was required to pay the slave's master 30 pieces of silver.
Judas betrayed Jesus for the price of a slave, yet Jesus was the one to set all people free from the slavery of sin. If only we could truly comprehend and appreciate what Christ has done for us.
